Mehmet Ali Can Takes Over as President of BAİB
Mehmet Ali Can has been elected as the new president of the Batı Akdeniz Exporters’ Association (BAİB) following the general assembly held on April 13, 2026.
Representing exporters from Antalya, Isparta, and Burdur, BAİB remains one of the key regional organizations shaping Türkiye’s export landscape.
A New Leadership Phase
With the election now finalized, Can officially assumes leadership, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the association.
In his first statement, he acknowledged the role of former president Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, who had led BAİB since 2021. While describing the election period as demanding, Can emphasized the importance of moving forward with a collective mindset and strong internal alignment.
From Promises to Execution
Can underlined that the new administration will focus on delivering the commitments outlined during the election campaign.
According to him, the leadership transition is not about status, but about responsibility. The priority, he noted, will be turning plans into concrete actions that directly benefit the association’s members.
Balancing Renewal with Experience
As part of a broader message on continuity, Can invited former president Çavuşoğlu to join BAİB’s High Advisory Board.
This step signals an intention to combine institutional experience with a renewed strategic direction, ensuring that past expertise remains part of the decision-making process.
Strategic Role of BAİB
BAİB continues to play a central role in supporting exporters across Türkiye’s western Mediterranean region. The association acts as a bridge between local businesses and global markets, particularly for sectors heavily dependent on international trade.
Leadership changes within such institutions are closely followed, as they often shape priorities around market expansion, competitiveness, and export support mechanisms.
What Comes Next
With the election behind, focus is now expected to shift toward policy direction and project execution under the new leadership.
For exporters in Antalya, Isparta, and Burdur, this transition marks not just a change in management, but the start of a new operational phase for one of the region’s most influential export bodies.
