Türkiye’de Marka: İtibar ve Tavsiyeler Neden Belirleyicidir?

The Strategic Importance of Brand Reputation and Consumer Recommendations in Türkiye: Analysis Based on 2025 Data

In Türkiye, the influence of brand reputation and consumer recommendations has become increasingly evident, supported by concrete data from comprehensive 2025 studies. These insights directly affect international entrepreneurs’ market entry strategies and operational decision-making processes.

Measuring Brand Reputation: Methodology and Scope

The Türkiye Reputation Index 2025, conducted for the 14th time by the Türkiye Reputation Academy, serves as one of the country’s most extensive perception surveys. The research, recognized by the Turkish Statistical Institute as representing the “Türkiye Sample,” was carried out between 10 December 2024 and 10 January 2025 across 26 regions and 72 provinces, engaging approximately 15,000 respondents. This methodology provides an inclusive overview of consumer attitudes nationwide.

Covering 35 different sectors—from fuel and e-commerce to healthcare and retail—the research measured public trust and perception toward major brands. Findings revealed that changes in living conditions have become a key factor shaping consumer brand choices.

Türkiye’s Most Reputable Brands in 2025

The index identified sectoral leaders reflecting the country’s diverse market dynamics:

Sector Leading Brand
Fuel Opet
Home Appliances Arçelik
E-Commerce Trendyol
Electronics Retail Mediamarkt
Insurance Anadolu Sigorta
Supermarket Migros

Among overall top-performing brands were Arçelik, Hepsiburada, Karaca Home, Kiğılı, Koç Holding, Koton, Trendyol, Ülker, Zara, and Zorlu Holding. These brands not only lead their sectors but also demonstrate deep national trust and brand equity.

Brand Value and Financial Performance: Positioning on a Global Scale

According to the Brand Finance 2025 report, the total value of the 125 Turkish brands studied reached USD 17 billion, marking a 15.6% increase from the previous year. This growth emphasizes the stronger global competitiveness of Turkish brands.

Türkiye’s top three most valuable brands:

  • Turkish Airlines: USD 2.266 billion
  • Arçelik: USD 1.645 billion
  • İş Bankası: USD 1.240 billion

Notably, 24 new brands entered the ranking, including Astor Enerji, Altınkılıç, Big Chefs, Hepsiburada, Oba Makarna, and Trendyol—highlighting the dynamism and sectoral variety of Türkiye’s evolving brand ecosystem.

Emotional Brand Connection: Beyond Consumer Loyalty

The MediaCat Lovemarks 2025 study reinforces that consumer preferences are increasingly driven by emotional ties rather than financial value alone. Results indicated faster shifts in brand perceptions compared to past years, reflecting an evolving emotional landscape in consumer-brand relationships.

One striking finding was Shell’s joint leadership with Opet in the fuel category, with Shell’s index score rising from 23 to 27. This underlines the significance of fostering deeper emotional engagement beyond functional satisfaction.

Brands such as Ariel and Bingo maintained strong resonance among consumers aged over 25 and within C1-C2 socioeconomic segments, particularly around “Closeness,” “Meeting Expectations,” and “Irreplaceable Brand” metrics.

Shifting Dynamics in Consumer Behavior

According to Ertan Acar, President of the Türkiye Reputation Academy, the index has evolved into a “strategic guide” rather than merely a measurement tool. In recent years, changing living conditions have significantly influenced public brand preferences, driving new marketing realities.

In 2025, consumers in Türkiye are more selective, well-informed, and less loyal compared to previous years. Among younger demographics, this trend is especially pronounced, creating common challenges across categories. This development underscores the necessity for brands to move from traditional mass marketing to personalized and category-specific strategies.

Strategic Insights for International Entrepreneurs

To effectively enter and succeed in the Turkish market, international entrepreneurs should focus on several key priorities:

  • reputation assessment: conduct a detailed analysis of brand perception and trust levels within target segments before market entry
  • sector leadership mapping: evaluate Türkiye’s most valuable brands together with top reputation index performers to understand competitive dynamics
  • emotional connection strategy: develop category-specific emotional engagement approaches to build trust and differentiation in the local market
  • target audience segmentation: consider how age and socioeconomic factors influence loyalty and brand attachment

The defining role of brand reputation and consumer recommendations in Türkiye is closely linked to evolving lifestyles, heightened selectivity, and stronger emotional expectations from consumers. For entrepreneurs, these insights provide vital reference points when designing market entry strategies and making long-term positioning decisions.
