Türkiye’s Leading Export Products: Analysis for 2024–2025

Türkiye’s export performance remained robust in 2025, reaching 273.4 billion USD, a 4.5% increase compared to 2024. This growth was supported by sectoral diversification, increasing high-tech output, and new market expansion strategies.

Sectoral Overview and Key Export Products

Agricultural Sector – Record-High Performance

In 2025, Türkiye’s agricultural exports reached a historic high of 36.2 billion USD. The primary drivers of this outstanding performance include:

  • fruit and vegetable preparations: 2.7 billion USD
  • dried fruits: 1.9 billion USD

The agricultural sector remains the country’s most stable and globally competitive export base, offering consistent opportunities for international buyers and investors seeking reliable supply chains.

Machinery and Equipment – Third Largest Export Sector

Türkiye’s machinery and equipment exports amounted to 34.4 billion USD, representing approximately 14% of the total export value.

Segment 2024 Export Value 5-Year Growth Main Markets
Mechanical Machinery (HS Code 84) 19.8 billion USD +42% Germany, USA, Italy, Russia
Electrical Machinery (HS Code 85) 14.6 billion USD +37% Germany, France, UK, Saudi Arabia

Rapidly expanding subsectors include:

  • packaging lines: +18%
  • logistics machinery and forklifts: +22%
  • industrial pumps: +14%
  • batteries: 672 million USD
  • electric cables: 1.21 billion USD

Automotive Industry

The automotive sector achieved exports valued at 32.5 billion USD, a 5.3% increase in value, confirming Türkiye’s role as one of the leading vehicle manufacturing hubs serving European and Middle Eastern markets.

Technology and High-Value Exports

Türkiye has rapidly advanced in the export of technology-related products:

  • high-tech products: 8.8 billion USD (+19%)
  • medium-high-tech products: 92.4 billion USD (+2.8%)
  • share of medium to high-tech products in total exports: 41%

This development reflects Türkiye’s commitment to increasing value-added production and global competitiveness through investments in R&D and innovation.

Iron and Steel

Iron and steel exports grew by 15.1%, reaching 10.2 billion USD. Türkiye’s steel industry benefits from geographical advantages, cost efficiency, and strong logistics networks connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Textiles and Apparel – Sector in Transition

The textile and ready-made clothing industry faced challenges between 2024 and 2025:

  • total exports decreased from 15.6 billion USD in 2024 to 15 billion USD (January–July 2025)
  • ready-to-wear exports (January–June 2025): 8.1 billion USD
  • textile exports declined by 3.8% over the same period

Nonetheless, regional diversification offers new potential: exports to Asian and Pacific countries surged by 81% in July 2025. The strongest product growth came from denim fabrics (+19.8%).

Textile Sub-Sectors (January–July 2025)

  • technical textiles: 1.366 billion USD (+5.2%)
  • woven fabrics: 1.337 billion USD (-0.3%)
  • yarn: 1.292 billion USD (+4.6%)

Top-performing export destinations included Morocco (+38.5%), Egypt (+24.6%), and the broader African market (+21.6%).

Geographical Expansion and Market Opportunities

Türkiye’s export structure demonstrates growing diversification:

  • European Union market: 108.7 billion euros in 2024 exports (+4.2%)
  • developing markets: rapid growth in Africa and Asia-Pacific

This trend opens substantial business opportunities for companies seeking to partner with Turkish exporters or establish regional production bases.

Employment and Capacity Trends

The textile and apparel industry recorded a decline in employment, from 989,000 in August 2024 to 913,000 in May 2025. This decrease reflects structural adjustments driven by automation, increased energy costs, and demand fluctuations across the European market.

Strategic Insights for International Entrepreneurs

Türkiye’s export composition reveals multiple entry points for foreign investors and entrepreneurs:

  1. Technology integration: sustained 37–42% growth in machinery and electrical equipment exports offers collaboration potential in smart manufacturing
  2. Geographic diversification: moving beyond traditional EU markets towards Africa and Asia-Pacific enhances risk management
  3. Value-added agriculture: rising demand for fruit, vegetable, and dried-fruit products provides scalable agribusiness opportunities
  4. Niche industrial segments: technical textiles, specialized machinery, and industrial equipment show strong growth momentum

In summary, Türkiye’s export landscape continues to evolve, driven by innovation and global integration. For international entrepreneurs, the combination of a skilled workforce, strategic location, and diversified production base positions Türkiye as a key trade partner and manufacturing destination in Eurasia.
