Trade Fair Participation Guide in Türkiye: A Comprehensive Manual for International Companies

Türkiye has become one of the most dynamic exhibition destinations, connecting Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Its strategic location, modern infrastructure, and expanding industrial capacity make it an attractive market for global businesses. Trade fairs organized and supported by the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye act as powerful platforms for networking, product promotion, and partnership building between Turkish and international firms.

Participation Conditions for Foreign Companies

Foreign companies can participate in Turkish trade fairs either through individual participation or by joining under the national participation scheme coordinated by various Turkish business unions and chambers of commerce. For fairs to be classified as “international”, at least 20 foreign exhibitors and a foreign participant ratio of no less than 20% are required. These regulations are designed to maintain high international standards and diversity in participation.

Trade Fair Support Program of the Ministry of Trade

Scope and Mechanism

The Ministry of Trade provides financial support for both domestic and international exhibitions to encourage business expansion and foreign investment. Companies may receive up to 50% reimbursement of eligible expenses, depending on the fair type and category.

  • sectoral international fairs: focused on specific industries
  • general fairs: multi-sectoral events
  • prestigious fairs: globally recognized and high-impact exhibitions

Major Fairs Held Across Türkiye in 2025

Throughout 2025, numerous sectoral fairs were organized in İstanbul, İzmir, Ankara, Antalya, Konya, and other major cities, showcasing industrial diversity and innovation. Key examples from the second half of the year include:

  • International Iron, Steel & Metal Products Fair (İstanbul, 24–27 September)
  • International Furniture Sub-Industry Fair (İstanbul, 25–28 September)
  • Eurasian Lubricants Show (İstanbul, 1–3 October)
  • Sign İstanbul – Industrial Print Technologies (İstanbul, 2–5 October)
  • Pharmanext – Pharmaceutical Industry & Technologies (İstanbul, 15–17 October)
  • Analytech – Analysis & Laboratory Technologies (İstanbul, 15–17 October)
  • Biotecnica – Biotechnology & Life Sciences Fair (İstanbul, 15–17 October)
  • Motta İzmir – Automotive & Vehicle Technologies (İzmir, 5–9 November)
  • Maktek NextGen – New Generation Machinery and Automation (İstanbul, 5–8 November)
  • Eurasia Glass – Glass Production Technologies (İstanbul, 15–18 November)
  • Growtech – Greenhouse & Agricultural Technologies (Antalya, 18–21 November)

These events covered topics such as sustainable manufacturing, digital transformation, green economy, and innovation in industrial production.

Virtual Fair Participation

The Ministry also supports virtual fair formats. Digital exhibitions with at least 100 exhibitors and 500 online visitors can qualify for financial support if organized through an approved coordination body. Such fairs enable cost-effective participation and global reach for startups and SMEs.

Practical Tips for Foreign Entrepreneurs

  1. Preparation and Fair Selection: choose fairs aligned with your business objectives and confirm whether they are listed in the official supported fairs program.
  2. Budget and Planning: prepare a detailed budget covering design, logistics, and promotional activities. Plan your funding considering the 50% support rate.
  3. Application Readiness: monitor the 90-day submission window, and keep all invoices and receipts for eligibility verification.
  4. Networking and Follow-Up: prepare bilingual marketing materials in Turkish and English, and maintain contact with potential clients after the fair.
  5. SME Opportunities: micro and small enterprises benefit from extended support limits—an excellent opportunity for market entry.
  6. Consult Official Sources: collaborate with business organizations such as TİM, İMMİB, and İTKİB, which provide industry-specific guidance and coordination.

Conclusion

Participating in trade fairs in Türkiye is one of the most effective routes for international companies seeking to enter or expand in the Turkish market. With generous support programs, strategic fair locations, and a rapidly transforming economy, Türkiye offers a competitive advantage for establishing partnerships and discovering new opportunities. By adhering to the application requirements and planning effectively, foreign businesses can ensure a successful and impactful fair experience.
